The SA59401 is a high-accuracy, low power, analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that integrates a 16-bit high speed ADC, a programmable gain amplifier (PGA), oscillator and high-accuracy temperature sensor. The PGA offers input ranges from ±128 mV to ±4.096 V, and the SA59401 is capable of performing conversions at a data rate of up to 890 samples per second (SPS), allowing the SA59401 to make high resolution measurement of both small and large signals.
The SA59401 integrates an input multiplexer (MUX) that allows measurement of two differential inputs. An integrated high-accuracy temperature sensor can be used for system-level temperature monitoring or cold-junction compensation for thermocouples.
The data of the SA59401 are transferred through a serial peripheral interface (SPI™), and can operate in continuous-conversion mode, or in a single-shot mode that automatically powers down after a conversion. The single-shot mode greatly reduces current consumption during idle periods.
The SA59401 is specified over the extended operating temperature range (–40°C to +125°C), and available in the MSOP10 package. These features, combined with a wide power supply range of 2.7 V to 5.5 V, make the SA59401 ideally suitable for power- and space- constrained, sensor-measurement applications.
