The SY24510 is a high efficiency step-down converter for high power fast charging application. It integrates four MOSFETs with extremely low R_DS(ON), which are connected in series. It operates as a voltage divider or a current doubler with 50% switching duty cycle, named charge pump mode, or as a bypass switch network, named bypass mode. The charge pump mode with high voltage input helps to reduce the conduction loss in charging cable line and limits the temperature rising in the high power fast charging application. The bypass mode is activated for the normal application with low voltage input. Bypass mode and charge pump mode can be selected by I²C interface online. The SY24510 is available with soft start to limit the inrush current in the flying and output capacitors. It has over current protection for each internal switch, over voltage protection for the downstream system at output side and over temperature protection for the device which are available for the reliable operation. It also has short circuit protection at output side, which is critical for the voltage rating limit of the internal switches.
